8 Nov Staff Meeting

Thanks Tom Byrd for the pictures!

We have been fortunate in the last few months to have a number of Chapter U participants volunteer to fill positions on our chapters staff...enough so that we actually decided to have a staff meeting!  After numerous emails, we decided to meet for dinner at Mama's on 281 on Thursday, November 4.  Not only did all our chapter staff show up, but we were fortunate to have visitors Pepe and Susan from Washington State, Steve Oakes from Chapter V2 in Victoria (Steve is doing some work up here for his company) and chapter member Reynaldo Espinosa join us!  After some introductions, table rearranging (I told Brad it is genetic in my family!), and catching up, we ended up grouped in one end of the private room in the back of Mama's and settled down to figure out what to eat!

Lots of great discussions and ideas.

Conversation and service was lively and as soon as the food showed up, it disappeared off the plates!  We even joined in singing happy birthday to a young girl whose family was seated down the way from us!  As we finished up dinner, Brad Severe asked various chapter staff to discuss what was going on in their area of responsibility.  We started with Martha Gover, our treasurer (always have to know what is going on with the Chapter treasury), and Charlie Brown talked about education possibilities we could schedule locally thanks to his being a District Trainer (First Aid/CPR, Road Captain's course).  He also discussed the idea of ordering long sleeve "wicking shirts" with the region, district, and chapter information which could be worn in cooler months under our chapter shirts and by itself in the hot sunny summers we have.

Charlie & Candy (Coffee must have been sour!!)                                          Dave & Lana

Mike Mills talked about the ride schedule which is in good shape thanks to the Ride Coordination meeting recently.  Jill Severe talked about the Christmas Party location, general decorations and food (order off the menu) while Dave Weaver and Lana Goralewicz have taken on making table decorations, and coordinating the gift exchange and games of "Motorcycle Bingo."  Reynaldo Espinosa volunteered to help as needed with the Chapter Christmas Party.  Of course Chapter Photographer Tom Byrd was taking pictures of all the socializing, eating and discussion!  We decided to have the monthly "Staff Meetings" (which are open to all chapter participants) the second Thursday of every month with a moving location so we can try out different restaurants and also encourage people to attend who may not otherwise get to a meeting due to the day of the week or location.  We also discussed the possibility at some time in the future having to find a larger gathering place if attendance at the Chapter monthly gathering continues in the high 30's and into the 40's.

All in all it was another very successful "first" for Chapter U!  Not only does having everyone participate add to the FUN of being part of a GWRRA chapter but the results of everyone's thoughts and efforts are always greater than that of just one or a few people!  Please feel free to attend the monthly "Staff Meeting" and join in the FUN!
