Parking Lot Practice, 6 Jan 08
We held our first ever Parking lot practice today and had
11 bikes and 15 people show up for practice of some basic maneuvers. It was a
walk through for us and trying to figure out the maximum utilization of the
parking lot to be able to get the maneuvers done safely. As is the usual drill
with Chapter U gatherings I think every one had fun, I know I did and watching
progress is ever so satisfying. Even though we missed our mandatory Dairy Queen
stop today I think everyone not only enjoyed the practice but most picked up a
point or two. Almost everyone out there was an experienced rider and we all had
room for improvement. It is the fundamentals that we tend to overlook that can
jump up and bite us on the road. I hope that everyone had a good time and
picked up something to take away with them. We did have a member of the host
church join us on a crotch rocket and he was an excellent rider. Gary Lewis
came by on his brand sparkling black new 1800 and gave us a demonstration of
dragging pegs. What a beautiful black machine welcome Gary. Thanks to Court
Van Sickler and Dave Weaver for helping out as coaches and marshals. Thanks to
Bill and Jane for the cones and their participation and help. All of our Thanks
to Duke Thompson Pastor of United Methodist Church for the use of their parking
lot and facilities today they worked out very well. Thanks to Brad Severe who
got out of his sick bed and made the trek over to get Jill's level IV form
signed and oh by the way stayed and took pictures. Sorry Jill I took his keys
and wouldn't let him leave. Most of all thanks to all of the Chapter U
participants for making Chapter U such a great group of Riders and Co-Riders to
be around. Harley said he concurs. Harley our 13 lbs Shih-Tzu had fun today
also. Although he had trouble in the staging area. I saw tremendous progress
and look forward to the next PLP in the mean time practice practice practice.
Remember Our Safety is your Responsibility.
