Commemorative Air Force Air Show, 28-29 Sep 07, Midland TX
We met at 281 and Evans Rd at 7:00AM Friday for a leisurely ride to Midland for the Commenorative Air Force (CAF) AirSho. We had a great breakfast at the Bowling Alley Café in Blanco and left civilization or so it seemed. We caught our next glimpse of civilization briefly at Fredicksburg where we passed our last stop light for about 300 miles. Back roads all the way We didn't see another stoplight till Midland. We stopped by Fort McKavett for some pictures and a historical break. On to lunch and a gas stop in Eldorado, We ask a local at the gas station and he directed us to Rosie's a great restaurant complete with Pecan Pie. We made it all the way to Midland and checked into the Motel, where Martha and Candy reminded us that we had been on the bike for 10 hours. I dunno whose counting. Again Locals sent us to the Wall St. Bar and Grill for Dinner that included a 2 hour wait to be seated. Everyone agreed that it was worth the wait. Breakfast at the Motel and off to the Air Show. To tell lies and kick tires with the best of them. There was so much to see and so little time to see it. All of the Airplanes are Magnificently restored machines that played such an important part in the history of this great country. The Heritage Flight consisted of a F/A 18 Super Hornet, F4U Corsair, and SP2C Only flying SP2C in the world. Oh do those airplanes sound great. The Throaty roar of Perfectly tuned R3350 radial engines. There was a large number of restored aircraft Dinner last night was a salad at the Texas Road House , Breakfast at Denny's this morning and an uneventful ride back to Fredericksburg for lunch at Auslander Great. A planned stop at DQ in Blanco was cancelled due to lack of interest. Arrived home tired early afternoon, It sure is tiring kicking all those tires and telling all those lies.
