26 Jan Ride to Lavernia, to meet V2 and X!
After several days of overcase, drizzly mid-to-low 40's weather, I put on a LOT of layers to ride out to meet Chapter X, Corpus Christi, and Chapter V2 in LaVernia. The good thing about the Mid-Winter Round-up is that you see a lot of people you know from other parts of Texas, and Brad and I had had the good fortune to meet up with V2 and find out about their planned ride to LaVernia for lunch and putt-putt golf. A quick addition to the Chapter ride schedule and voila, a multi-chapter mixer!:)
I was very relieved as we headed out that it appeared my 5-3-2 layers of clothes (in descending order on the body) would hold out against the cold and wind. We headed to the new Chapter Saturday meeting point...Yamaha of San Antonio and were happy to see several Wings already there (and a Harley!). Walking in we were appreciative of the new Yamaha dealership, lots of cool merchandise to browse through, a friendly manager and sales staff, coffee, restrooms and conference room we can use for training! What a nice gig!

Lined up at our new Saturday ride meeting location, Yamaha of San Antonio!
It was soon time to take off and after a safety briefing from Charlie Brown and a route briefing from Brad, we headed out towards LaVernia on some of my favorite roads. You see, we were taking the route that Brad had planned for me to use when I was first venturing out on my first motorcycle! The sun was shining, there was little traffic, the road construction not on TXDot's map was still there (slight detour) and we soon pulled into the Steak Company restaurant in LaVernia to be greeted by 2 members of Chapter X, 8 members from Chapter V2 and our own Bill and Jane in their four wheel!

Chapter U bikes lined up! Chapter V2 and X bikes!
After meeting and greeting and picture taking, we all trooped into the restaurant to be met by the manager and a friendly wait staff! We had arrived just after they opened and they had already arranged the tables into two long rows...gee, I didn't even have to do anything!:) After getting settled and perusing the great variety of options, we settled down to ordering, eating fresh rolls, and more talking! We had a great time, great food and great fun. It is always interesting to swap favorite ride destinations, routes and restaurants with other chapters, and we picked up some new neat ride ideas from our southern neighbors! We were delighted that Reynaldo Espinosa found his way to the restaurant and joined the lively group!

Some of the "U" crowd present!
All too soon, it was time to head out. Due to the long ride planned for tomorrow to Berclair mansion, we opted for a leisurely ride home while Chapter V2 headed to Putt-Putt golf and X headed home. The temperature had warmed up to a gorgeous low 70's, there wasn't much traffic on the road, and Brad found an interesting road we may be able to use for the fall rally Fun Run!:) As we turned off to go our different ways, today was another great day to ride with Chapter U!

Thanks to the Chapter U members who represented us in the multi-chapter mixer: Kenny and Connie Jordan, Tom and Nancy Byrd (who rode drag) Court Van Stickler, Bert Navin, Reynaldo Espinosa, Jack Dowda, and Bill and Jane Johnson, and Brad and Jill Severe. Thanks to everyone who remembered to bring their cameras to take pictures (Brad and I forgot ours!) and to Charlie Brown who rode over to join us at the Yamaha dealership and give us our safety briefing!
