December 2006 Meeting

Twas the Wednesday Before Christmas and all through the Golden Corral...

All the creatures were stirring and scurrying up and down the buffet.  No, those aren't the right words but you get the idea!  Those of "U" who made it to the December chapter meeting enjoyed the usual offerings of a "U" chapter meeting (ride recap and update from Chapter Director Brad and an education talk and District update from our acting Chapter Educator and District Director John Simonick).  Good job Kenny and Connie for putting in your Level 2 paperwork and thanks to Charlie Brown for sending it on to District.

Sal, acting as Santa Claus, handed out gifts for the correct answers to Christmas trivia questions.  No one knew what to do with "frumenty" that was given to people at a medieval Christmas party (eat it) but that Klaxon was not a name of one of Santa's reindeers.  And did you know that there is a Santa Clause, Indiana?  Everyone answered correctly (some with a little more help than others!) so that Santa gave everyone present a Christmas gift!  We had lots of donated raffle prizes (more gifts and thanks Ron, Maria, Martha and Olin) and Olin again came up with a new game of skill that involved this month both the rider and co-rider.  The rider was blindfolded and the co-rider had to give the riders directions such as "Left, Right, Back, Forward" to move a remote-controlled car between two sets of bottles.  Only a few bottles crashed to the floor...wince...fortunately it was remote-controlled car and not a Gold Wing!  Though Olin's games of skill are just that, this game proved to be great fun!  None of the co-riders beat too hard on the back of their rider and the one speaking the softest into their rider's ear brought the couple to a victory (Connie and Kenny)!

We had some good suggestions from the floor including starting up an impromptu Friday night ride for those perhaps not able to join the rides on weekends.  Look to the Forum on the website for any rider comments on that and thanks to John Curtis for putting that idea forward.  Ron and Maria also provided more suggestions on good places to ride and eat!  The evening ended with lots of season's greetings as all present set off into the night bearing gifts and the goodwill of fellow Gold Wing riders!  See you next year and hope Santa puts lots of chrome goodies under the tree...he put a Gold Wing trike under mine!
