6 June 09 Ride To Rockport Pictures by Steve Curry and Steve & Susan Ochs Write-up by Steve Ochs As Susan and I arrived at YOSA, we were met by Brad Severe, Ron and Maria DeLaughter, John McClinton and Steve Curry. As we waited for anymore arrivals we visited for a few minutes, at about 8:40 we decided that no one else was going to show, so we headed out toward Rockport. Brad said that we may pick up J D and Millie Kvapil and Bill and Jane Johnson in Poth. We headed out on I-35 towards Loop 1604 and around to Us Hwy 181. We met with J D and Bill and co-riders in Poth and continued on South.
Bikes at YOSA. First break! We stopped in Kenedy for a short break and then continued on toward Goliad on Hwy 239. We ran unto some construction along the way which caused a short delay in our ride. Seems the Hwy Dept. needs to spend some stimulus money on the roads.
Road construction wait! Just arrived at the Boiling Pot! We finally arrived at the Boiling Pot in Fulton, and went inside to quite a different place. No one except Susan and I had been there before, so they really didn't know what to expect. Everyone ordered their food and visited while we waited for the food to arrive. If you have never been to the Boiling Pot, they serve the food on butcher paper, no knives, forks, or plates, just your fingers and if you order the crab you get a hammer all just dumped on the butcher paper. Poor Bill had to wait quite a long time for his food as they seemed to have had a delay in the preparation for that many people. The food is really good but the company makes it that much better.
Bikes at the Boiling Pot! Ron & Maria Delaughter in chapter shirts!
Getting Ready to order! Brad watching John McClinton eat oysters!
Jane watch Bill play with his crab! Table shot!
Another table shot! J.D. with his crab hammer! (poor crab!)
What a mess!! Waiting to check out! After paying our bills, we headed out back home. We fueled up and Steve Curry left headed to Laredo and he bid us a safe trip as we in return bid him a safe trip back home. Maria had spotted a fruit stand along the hwy coming to town, so we stopped on the way back so everyone could buy something if they wanted to. After the short break we headed out to our DQ stop. We stopped in Skidmore for the ice cream. As we were about to leave Bill had a gremlin show up in his bike. As he tried to figure out what was wrong we tried to help in whatever way we could. After a short time it was discovered that he had a loose wire to the battery, so it was fixed and we were on our way. It was getting pretty warm by then and those that had them donned their cool vests to stay cool and we headed to our out to our own destinations. Everyone hade a great time and enjoyed the day.
Nicely lined up when we stopped at the fruit stand!
