On a very cold and sunny day, we headed south toward Pleasanton to pick up tickets and our Christmas drawing funds from JD & Millie Kvapil.  We were met with hugs and offered a hot cup of coffee.  The Kvapil home was beautifully decorated for Christmas and they were having family over for a Christmas celebration, so we left and continued on our way to La Vernia to The Steak Co.
 
We were met by one of the owners of The Steak Co. and gave her the requests of all the Chapter U members.  She made sure she had plenty of steaks on hand for Chapter U members requesting that item.  We started cleaning tables and decorating the tree and tables in the big room.  We were soon joined by 29 members of the FUN chapter.  The restaurant staff was very accommodating and wanted to make sure that they had our meals prepared in record time. 
 
Around 1 PM, after placing the food orders, Dave Weaver and Steve Ochs started a game of motorcycle bingo.  We were able to play a couple of games when lunch was being served.  We had a delicious lunch of either ribeye steaks, grilled chicken or chicken fried steak served with mashed potatoes and green beans and a roll for an amazing price of $9.99 which included a drink.  The best part was that the chapter paid the check.  The food was great, or a least everyone was very quiet while they were devouring the food. 
 
After the meals were done we started playing more bingo games led by Dave Weaver and Lana Goralewicz.  We played for awhile and then we had the drawing for the Christmas jackpot.  A ticket was drawn and Skip Surre left with a happy smile on his face.  He won $258 and the chapter received the same amount.  This money is to help with our chapter couple expenses and is due to each and everyone of U for buying those tickets at all the events you attend.
 
We started the gift exchange and there were only a hand full of gifts that went thru the stealing stages.  There were some very nice gifts given this year.  After the Chinese gift exchange was over, we started drawing names from the ticket sales to give away the table decorations and it seems that everyone at the party went home with something. 
 
Everyone said there goodbyes and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and were on their way to other destinations.  We also gave out a handout from Archie and Sharon Haley about our adopted family.  If you do not receive a copy please call Steve or Susan Ochs at 361-571-2909 or 361-571-0384 and we will get you a copy.  Archie and Sharon would like everyone to bring their gifts to the chapter gathering this month.
