26 Apr 09 Ride to the Mission's Game
With the weather forecast calling for rain, we were not sure if we should ride or not. We planned on heading out to YOSA and we were delighted there was a couple of bikes already there. We greeted the two men that were there and waited an extra five minutes in hopes that someone else would show up. Gary Skorman lead a ride around 1518 and then on to 1604 until we reached Callaghan Road and the ball park. Mike Whiteside made a comment when we arrived that it was a beautiful ride and a ride he had never ridden before. The San Antonio Missions game had everything to make it a true baseball game, popcorn, peanuts and a drink. San Antonio was playing a team from Midland. The star-spangled banner was sung and then the strike of the bats began. Midland scored the first run and by the time we left at the bottom of the eighth inning they were up by 6. This was not a day for the Missions. There wasn't a huge crowd but between innings they played different games with people that were attending the game. It was a very windy day and most balls didn't make it over the fence due to the wind blowing it back. The ride home was even windier than the ride there. It was a wonderful ride and an enjoyable time for all.
