25 April 09 Ride to The Painted Churches

As we were getting ready to head out for our Saturday morning ride, the rain had started.  It stopped for awhile and then we pulled the bike out of the garage.  It started to sprinkle and we wondered should we venture out or not? We decided we had rain gear and we would head out to see if anyone was planning to ride.  We met up with two other bikes and one trike. Ken and Connie Jordan, Gary Skorman and Olin and Martha Gover were discussing the weather as we arrived.  We visited awhile and discussed the weather.  Everyone wanted to ride but didn't want to ride in rain.  We all put on our rain gear and decided to have lunch and see what the weather would do from then on.  We ate in Luling at the City Market and there was a bake sale going on outside.  Yummy!!  The rain seemed to have gone away so we headed to the first church in Praha and I believe it was the most beautiful church.  We headed to High Hill next but were not able to see it due to a wedding.  We then ventured to the next church and rode across the Piano Bridge into Dubina and then to the last one in Ammansville.  The landscaping work at the last church was so beautiful with all the flowers in bloom.  I do believe we had two rides in one today, the painted churches and the wildflower ride.  The wildflowers were not over abundant but we did see a few patches here and there.  Our next stop was the DQ in Schulenburg and then we headed back thru Hallettsville, Seguin and on into San Antonio.
