24 January 09 Ride to Cabela's

Pictures by Skip Surre, Write-up by Steve Ochs

Saturday started out  a little chilly and windy as Ken and Connie ( our leaders for the ride), Skip, Gary Skorman, Gary Lewis, Luis and Ida along with a friend Raul, and a new couple Robert & Nancy and Steve met at YOSA at 9:00AM. After a short get know one another Ken said it was time to leave.

New participants Nancy Motl on the left and Robert Motl right!

Great turnout at the YOSA meeting point!

Look like two hired guns! Gary Lewis & Ken Jordan.                                   Gas Stop

We started up the access road to FM3009 to Schoenthal Road to Hwy 46 to FM 2722 up to FM2673 to Sattler. The down FM306 to Purgatory Road. After a short Gas break we were on the road again. Still rather chilly and windy but everyone seemed to be enjoying the ride. We headed toward Wimberley and on to Buda via FM150.

Must be looking for warm stuff!                                     Ida & Luis Flores with Raul

We arrived at Cabela's about 10:45 and after deciding that one hour of shopping was enough, everyone headed their own way. After shopping we met up to leave and seems just about everyone, (Skip, Gary Skorman, Robert and Nancy, and Connie) all had bought some thermal Cabela's Gloves for a little more hand warmth. It was then off to Lockhart for some Chisholm Trail BBQ. The food was great, the company was wonderful, everyone warmed up enough to head home. We left Lockhart and headed toward Luling the to I-10 in Sequin where everyone sort of went their own way home. Everyone seemed to have a really good, only wished it had been just a wee bit warmer and not so windy.

Great eats at the Chisholm Trail BBQ!                            Now they will be warm, Cabela's gloves!
