18 July Breakfast Ride

Photos & Write-up by Skip Surre

I was talking to Luis Flores after the breakfast ride last week and I was telling him I didn’t know any restaurants in the area of YOSA. Now this is the story differs depending on whom you talk to. Luis says I told him the Chapter liked small “Hole in the wall” places. I thought I said “Mom and Pop” places. Well let’s chalk it up to my hearing loss. Luis tells me he knows a great place so I started calling it the “Hole in the Wall” restaurant. We all started gathering at YOSA early on Saturday morning soon Luis,  Archie and Sharon Haley, Brad and Jill Severe, Mike Mills, Kenny Jordan, Steve and Susan Ochs, Juan Busanet Jr., Tom and Nancy Byrd, and Steve. We were doing the usual Chapter U talking about motorcycles and riding when the cry for coffee and food became too loud to ignore. We had our safety brief and were on the way to the Hole in the Wall.

We parked the bikes in 2 groups.

We arrived and soon were seated (Jill didn’t even have to move the furniture). The staff had our orders and the drinks were in our hands in no time. The food was delicious (good job Luis) and soon our thoughts were back to riding.

Group One!

Group Two!

The whole group!

Brad, Jill, Tom, Nancy and Kenny had previous commitments. So the rest of the rides once again braved on of my “back road specials”. We rode 1103 to Santa Clara crossing 78 and going over I-10. After enduring the hectic pace of the traffic in the suburbs of New Berlin we followed 1518 and ended up in Schertz. Then Mike Mills suggested this would be a good place to stop. The Dairy Queen was open and the ice cream was very good. At this point we decided to ride up and see the road we were assigned for clean up. After a couple of pictures we all headed our own ways.

"Skip Cam" on the road pics!

It was a great day for riding and to enjoy the company of like-minded friends who enjoy the freedom that only is achieved though riding a motorcycle safely.

The mandatory DQ stop!

The signs are up! We have our trash pickup area!
