18 January 09 Ride to OST's in Bandera
Thanks Charlie Brown for the write-up and pictures!
Today was one of those days where being one with the bike and your surroundings was easy, It was a chamber of commerce day, the sky was as blue as it could be. We rode all day long and couldn’t find a cloud in the sky anywhere in the Hill Country.
Where are we going?

Problem solved Nice parking job
We met at 46 and 281, there was a bright yellow GL 1800, ridden by Brad Severe, a gun metal grey GL 1800 ridden by Court and Diane Van Sickler, a silver GL 1800 ridden by Ron and Maria Delaughter and a Crimson and red Harley Ultra Classic ridden by Charlie and Candy Brown. After a fair amount of socializing we realized that they weren’t going to bring breakfast to us so it was a cross county ride on SR 46 to the Old Spanish Trail Restaurant (OST) in Bandera for some coffee and eggs. Huevos Rancheros, Pancakes, Fajitas and lots of coffee, Upon arrival we had to wait outside because we had Jackets and because there was no more room to stand inside the restaurant and they would call us when there was an opening in about 5 to 10 minutes and sure enough they did. Breakfast and Company was great and a lot of world problems were solved.

Brad Severe departed us here and I could feel the call to the road building in all of us after a wonderful breakfast and great companionship we weakened and heeded the call of the road, or was it the Apple Ice Cream in Medina?

Apple Ice Cream anyone Court and Diane at Stonehenge

| Well this explains it all | This space ship flew over and drop these stones and they landed just like this |

The aliens did it Yes, but can he ride?
Well maybe a combination of both. It was predestined thoroughly intoxicated by the Apple Ice Cream and the call of the road it was off to ride 337 twisting and turning through the country side at a leisurely pace to enjoy the wonderful scenery and experience the intoxication without worrying about a hangover. I had not ridden SR 39 till today and even a fair amount of construction could not dim the wonderful Indian summer day and gorgeous scenery we experienced. It was Diane’s first visit to the Apple store and Stonehenge. The dryness and lack of rain were very evident but failed to dim the day. I was struck by the difference in the ride between a normal green lush carpet and the brown dry ground cover of today. Still a gorgeous ride. We followed 39 through hunt and turned on SR 41 to Stonehenge. After we figured out Stonehenge we made a stop at the Hunt Store where Candy’s sister used to be the Manager. Several of her recipes are still on the menu.
It was a short trip back on SR39 to I-10 where we had to put in our time on the interstate to get to the gas stop in Boerne and oh yeah it just so happens that there is a Dairy Queen right next door. Imagine that. We said our good byes with fond memories of a near perfect day of cycling through the Hill Country and feeling sorry for our fellow riders in the North who are shoveling snow instead of riding today.
Oh and by the way if anyone was thinking about purchasing my Harley, The price just went up by more than a few thousand dollars.
