16 August 08 Ride To Rosanky Auto Museum Pictures by Tom Byrd, Write-up by Brad Severe 9 bikes and one car turned out at the YOSA pickup point. Richard Watson just came by to say hi since we hadn't seen him in a while. Unfortunately he had other things going on and could not ride. It was great to see him! We had one new person show up on a GL1100, Skip Surre, and Gerard Lobosco who we hadn't seen since February were among the 8 bikes. After a safety route briefing, 8 bikes left in one group with Tom & Nancy Byrd in the car for group 2. Bill & Jane Johnson had mentioned they would try and catch us in Luling and we got him on the CB just a few miles out of town. Bill and a friend, Mike Guerra on a Suzuki 650 had taken I-10 and we caught up with them a few miles up the road. We did a running pickup forming up into 2 groups, total of 10 bikes!
Bikes at Yosa. Lots of talking especially with Skip about his 1100 and Gerard!
Tom Byrd got some great shots on the road! Looks like a perfect formation, all 8 bikes!
Everyone did great on the ride!
Just arrived at the car museum.
We parked in 2 groups. You can see all 10 and the car in this one! The museum was super. Most had never been there before! If you have never been I would highly suggest it! The $5 entrance fee is well worth it! I have no idea how many cars are there but it is a bunch! The oldest I saw I think was 1905 and they went into the 70's! Everyone was trying to guess the total value. I am sure it was well into the millions!
Rare Tucker looked mint! The cars were absolutely amazing. Something for everyone!
They even had a few motorcycles! I think every museum has to have a Harley and an Indian!
Row after row of cars from every age!
Skip Surre Mike Guerra After the museum, we headed out for the short ride to Lockhart for some great BBQ. Unfortunately, My GPS did not have the location correct for the intended place, Smitty's, so rather than take 10 bikes round and round, we just headed to Chisolm Trail BBQ. Yep, I should have done a pre-ride on the complete route and then I would have known where Smitty's was! Anyway, the food at Chisolm Trail was good and priced really reasonable!! 2 meats, 3 sides plus pickles, onions and bread was only $5.45! And you get to pick from about 20 sides! A large drink was only 80 cents! They had a back room with plenty of tables for the 15 of us! I think we will be back again! It was a great group, great day and a great ride! Thanks to everyone who came out! Brad Severe
Most of the group at the Chisolm Trail! Didn't want Joan Custer to think she got left out!
