18 January 12 - Chapter Gathering

Our first meeting since the holidays had a good turnout.  Everyone enjoyed visiting with each other and catching up on things.  The Regional and District rallies were discussed.  Ken suggested a Chapter ride to the Regional rally in Marshall in March.  Everyone should make their own room reservations now if they plan to go.  Volunteers are needed for the registration table at the District rally in New Braunfels in May.

At the Mid-Winter Round-up last weekend, Donna and Steve van Gilder were introduced as our “official” 2012 Couple of the Year.  During the meeting,  J.D. Kvapil was serenaded by the group with Happy Birthday, since he was the only January birthday attendee.  Linda and Jack Dowda talked about venues for our Friday night Meet and Eat gatherings.  Millie Kvapil reminded everyone that raffle tickets for our 2012 Christmas raffle were available.  Diane Van Sickler won the 2011 pot. Our Educator Skip Surre discussed safety topics including recalls on Goldwings.

Then, we asked for six volunteers who weren’t afraid to look silly in front of the group.  After we had our volunteers, we explained they would have to hang a spoon off their nose and race to the end point--and all six aced it. I wonder if this means that we have a very “nosy” bunch?

Ken thanked everyone who brought raffle items.  We had a very large number of items this month and had many happy winners.  These were various items, including gift certificates from our COY’s, from Moto Liberty and our sponsor Kent PowerSports.  Dessert was furnished by Millie and J.D. Kvapilher famous cookies and chocolate peanut clusters.

We hope to see you this Saturday, January 21 for our ride to Floresville.

The next Chapter gathering will be on February 15.
